My friend Todd sent me a PM last night...I'll let him tell the story. As the saying goes "Should've been there yesterday!"

Yesterday: Double strike in the blind at 16 miles and 182 degrees from Heeia Kea (Kaneohe); caught one lost one.

Today: Gotta chill two more....ended up catching two ahi out of three (triple strike) in a bird pile at LL this morning. Whew, those were some angry seas out there today. Phi Slamma Jamma -- it was cold and wet, and the boat took a pounding.

The fish are really crankin' on the east side! Unbelievable!

***

Ahi = 100lb or heavier yellowfin or bigeye tuna.

Shibi = 99lb or smaller yellowfin or bigeye tuna.

Neither...trolling. Laughing

Todd usually troll to cover lots of water. Out that deep, it's hard to find fish sometimes. They don't really relate to anything other than current breaks or temperature breaks where bait can be found.

Unless you drive around looking for a bird pile or a pod of porpoise, there really is little chance to go jigging or popping...just a whole lot of deserted water to cover.

Nice indeed. I wish action was this good in 2007 and 2009 when I visited. Rolling Eyes

Should've been there YESTERDAY! Laughing Laughing Laughing
